Taylor Swift Releases New “Safe & Sound” Video From “The Hunger Games” Soundtrack

The new video for Taylor Swift’s popular single “Safe & Sound” is finally out and as expected, it’s filled with melancholy. The clip was premiered on February 13th, 2012 on a special MTV show. And as we all kind of expected, the brand new video features the award winning duo The Civil Wars who act out along side Taylor in the “Hunger Games” inspired video.

Not only are the fans excited about the new “Safe & Sound” video, but so is Taylor. She declared that “I’m so excited about this. This is probably my favorite video I’ve ever gotten to do”. And we tend to agree with her. Needless to say, she looks amazing in it. With her makeup and hair obviously undone, the country-music princess looks better than ever.

Now just so you know, the clip does have sort of a weird vibe to it. Director Philip Andelman managed to take us all into the eerie atmosphere of the upcoming movie. What’s probably the spookiest scene of all is the one where we get to see Taylor on top of a tombstone, which you may not know, dates back to the 1800s. When she was asked about it, Taylor declared that the tombstone scene is actually her favorite! “It’s one of my favorite moments in the video. There’s this wide shot where I’m just kind of crumpled up sitting on a gravestone, like a tomb, and it’s actually the gravesite of a couple who lived and died in 1853.” Swift went on to say “I was just freaked out, and I’m such a history freak. I’m sitting there thinking, ‘What were their lives like?’ And now here we are, hundreds of years later, filming a music video on their grave. This is insane. … It’s really eerie, considering what the movie is about and how it deals with life and death. It just absolutely blew my mind.”

In case you’re wondering when you can get your hands on the “Hunger Games” soundtrack, which also features The Decemberists, you’ll be able to get it beginning on March 20^th. The movie premieres in theaters 3 days later, on March 23.
